Beautiful place right at the river and close to the lake, lots of activities (we did stand up paddling, took a boat on the lake, did some hiking, went moose watching), terrific hosts. It was the highlight of our three weeks in New England.

LOVED!!! stayed in #11 midnight special. cute cabin, fully stocked, very clean. location is fantastic. not too far away from jackman/greenville in either direction but also not right in the heart of any town. cabin sat right on the river. had 2 twelve year old boys with us and they loved every minute. got to paddle board, kayak, play w/ the owners children, and fish off the docks. would come back here again and again if it was closer to home.

We had fun!!!! Having fond memories of the Greenville, Maine area I wanted to return for a vacation. We decided to stay in Rockwood at Gray Ghost. Im glad we did. The cabin was very comfortable. Steve and Amy were nice and helpful. All the amenities you could want are here. We rented a boat one day to fish on Moosehead. Another day we had Steve take us to the damn above the camps so we could tube down the river. It took about 45 minutes and it was a blast! We had a campfire by the river. The camps are close, but we had good neighbors. With all the windows open and wonderful cross breezes I slept better than I had in ages. Good times!

This cabin is located beautifully at a little river that flowes into the moosehead lake about 1 mile down stream. In the mornings you sit in the sun directly at the water on your own little patio directly at the water. At night we saw the Milky Way beautifully. The hosts a very nice, and in the campsite next-door you can rent boats for a very decent price. The cabinet itself is very unsophisticated but for a party of 4 completely enough a great deal for the money.

What wonderful and welcoming people. A real joy to meet such nice folks. The cabin is in a lovely spot right on the river. After a hot day hiking, we jumped right in. As the sun settled, we were able to fish right off the dock. Cant say we caught much, but it was certainly relaxing. For my son, being adjacent to a campground provided the advantage of being able to meet new friends. If you are in the area to hike Mt. Kineo, the cabin is in a perfect spot as it is only a few minutes drive away from the Kineo shuttle. I would definitely recommend this fully stocked cabin.

We loved this little camp in Rockwood. This was our first time to Moosehead area and we really enjoyed the river views all day long. Access to the resources at Gray Ghost was very nice. The views of Mt. Kineo are incredible from inside the camp and on the front lawn.

We had an awesome time at the cabin! Amy was super friendly and easy to work with, and she made sure that the cabin was in great shape when we arrived. It was clean and cozy, had great views, and was close to lots of other activities in the Moosehead Lake area. Amy even offered some fresh garden tomatoes and eggs from her chickens. All in all, it was a great experience. Cant wait to come back!

We had a great stay with Gray Ghost camps. My brother and I used the cabin as our home base while fishing the Moose and the East Outlet. We had plenty of space to spread out, and enjoyed coming back to the cozy cabin after a full day on the water. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and the location was perfect for our purposes. Amy was also an excellent host -- check in/out was seamless, and she gave us helpful tips about the nearby rivers. We hope to be back soon!

Relaxation! Loved our week at Gray Ghost Camps. Steve and Amy are super hosts, and relaxation is the theme. Plenty to do at camp, fishing, kayaking, or just watching the river flow on by. The waterfowl are plenty, and we loved the Canadian Geese and their little ones! In any direction you can find hiking trails that show off the beautiful area. Cant wait for our next trip!

Beautiful Place! My family of 7 stayed here and we loved it. Instead of putting is all in one cabin which we had planned to do, once we got there they suggested we have two cabins for the same price so we could have more room! That was so thoughtful of them. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The cabins are clean and modern. We enjoyed the use of the free canoes, kyaks and paddle boards. The Moosehead River is beautiful. I would reccommend this to anyone! Also a great price.

Love the Gray Ghost Camps Lots to do, but also a great place to just hang out and do nothing. The rustic cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Spent a lot of time listening to the loons and feeding the ducks.

Nicest people and an incredible location. Been going there for years twice this year. Best value for the money as well. And Ohhh 5 of 5 stars I just got home yesterday from a quick jaunt for the smelt run. I hit it just right. I also just booked my next trip up for next month. The camps are in a premium location. The owners couldnt be any nicer and they keep the place very neat both inside and out. We have gone with children too and the kids have a great time there as well and look forward to going again in June. The term camps is an understatement its a little cottage on your own piece of paradise with all the comforts of home. It took us years to find this location and now I wouldnt think of staying anywhere else. Theres really no place better.

Great place to do nothing, or do it all! 5 of 5 stars This is our 5th stay at Gray Ghost, all but once in an older cabin right ON the river. Wonderful for families with kids, free use of kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, tubes, and other water toys--no need to rent a kayak for a day for a kid who uses it for 15 minutes! Owners obviously care for the place, constantly upgrading...

Top notch river views, service, cabins! 5 of 5 stars Gray Ghost Camps were an amazing find. We went up to Moosehead Lake last weekend (May) to fish and camp, and of course it DOWNPOURED all day on Saturday! Needless to say, we couldnt set up camp. We started checking around the camps and cabins in the area and most everyone said they wouldnt do a rental for just 1 night - even when we were standing there, dripping in their lobby! On a whim and a Google search, I called Gray Ghost. Not only did they let us take a cabin for the night, but they gave us a 3-bedroom at the 1-bedroom price! (It was just 2 of us and they were sold out of 1 bedrooms). Owners were friendly and welcoming. The setting of the cabins right on the river was so amazing, we just sat on the couch and watched the raindrops on the water for an hour! The rain eventually let up and we ended up catching a few fish at the dam down the street from the camp. We cleaned them up at the fish sink right by the waters edge while the sun set and ducks flew home. Grilled them up on the grill on our porch with a little lime and ginger and had one of the best weekends at our favorite lake. We will definitely be back, and hopefully next time, it wont be raining so hard and we can take one of the complimentary canoes out on the Lake! Thank you for saving our trip, Steve and Amy!

Most relaxed vacation! 5 of 5 stars The clean and well equiped cabins had all we needed for a fun weekend. The owners were so generous with their property. We had use of canoe, kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets at no cost. They had a grill, fire pit ( with wood), and great screened in porch. One night we paddled across the river and had a wonderful dinner at Maynards. I would highly recommend this spot for families as well as couples.

exceptional service, friendly & informative owners 5 of 5 stars While trying to find the best snowmobile trails in ME several years ago, Gray Ghost kept us informed, through emails and the Fb page about conditions for our party of 8 -- they communicate well and promptly. The trails are superb! Summer time the river is relaxing so rent one of the boats and go relax. The cabins are super clean with modern amenities. We have been yearly for several years now! We love Gray Ghost camps. Room Tip: get as close to the river as you can to spot the deer across the river!

its a family place .. 5 of 5 stars my family and I have been staying there for our traditional fishing week for the better part of 30 years .. since long before Steve and Amy took it over and made it their own. Theyre kind .. considerate people who go out of their way to help make your stay perfect. Perhaps thats why they are one of the few places that are growing by leaps and bounds. If youre looking for a place to vacation, winter or summer in the Rockwood, Moose River area .. youre not going to find a better one anywhere.

Most Relaxing Two Days Ever! 5 of 5 stars As a family of four, we were really looking to enjoy our last breath of summer before school started. We spent two nights in the Supervisor cabin and had the most relaxing and fun couple of days. The hosts are so accommodating and even drove us up the river so that we could tube down, lazy river style. So many water toys are available such as paddle boards, kayaks, tubes and canoes. The grounds are clean and inviting and the cabin has a beautiful fire pit to hang around at night making smores and watching shooting stars. Cant say enough good things about this wonderful experience. We cant wait to go back! Room Tip: The Supervisor cabin is large and right on the water.

Fantastic! Truly something special. Headed up to the island for July 4th - one of the best weekends away Ive had. The cabin itself is tidy and well-appointed, though obviously rustic. Certainly had no trouble with the lack of electricity and hot water. And with no cell service (AT&T - I believe Verizon works) it was the perfect environment to disconnect. Stove works great but we cooked on the grill and fire mainly - lots of wood and charcoal available. The screened off porch with two hammocks or the new wooden jetty are where we spent our time though honestly. No bugs to worry about and a nice breeze off the lake kept it comfortable. Composting bathroom was in great condition. So that brings me to the highlight: The island itself. Large enough that you have privacy, small enough you feel like youre practically on the lake. And of course it comes with its own family of eagles and perfect line of sight on sunrise and sunset. Magic stuff. Getting there, rent a boat from the super helpful Merrills Marina nearby - we kept it low key but with a fancy boat you could be exploring the lake all weekend.
