Fall is a time for wildlife to scurry in prepa­ra­tion for win­ter and vaca­tion­ers to pack up and head home from camp … or is it? Rock­wood is bustling with activ­ity in the Autumn months when other areas are start­ing to but­ton up for the com­ing win­ter. Hunt­ing sea­son peaks, fish­ing is pro­duc­tive, and the foliage is absolutely stun­ning dur­ing the lat­ter part of the year.

Does Spring have you itching to spend some time on the open water? Well Moose­head Lake is wide open, the ice is out and we are open for business. Our 12 waterfront cabins are located in God’s Country up in Rock­wood, where the paved roads end and the jeep and woods trails begin. A place where the you wake to the sound of the birds and emerge from your cabin with coffee in hand only to dangle a line off your dock in your slippers. A place where stars still shine brightly in the sky and the peep frogs play a harmonic melody. A place where you can climb a different mountain every day. A place where your likely to spot a local moose on your trip to the local eatery. Welcome to Rock­wood! Welcome to Gray Ghost Camps! Here at Gray Ghost Camps, we have something for everyone! Anglers will enjoy trolling the Moose River with streamer flies in May. Later spring at the Bras­sua Dam and the Outlets, anglers with dry flies will be most productive. Families will enjoy day hikes and lazy days spent on one of Moose­head Lake’s many private beaches. Mount Kineo State Park and Lily Bay State Park each provide a beautiful setting for a picnic or day trip as well.

Sum­mer is an invit­ing time to visit the Moose­head region, as guests are greeted with a plethora of activ­i­ties. A trip to Mt. Kineo State Park is a must. There, the hiker can catch his breath when he reaches the peak of the daunt­ing moun­tain just to lose it again at the astound­ing panoramic views of the dis­tant ranges. The peb­ble beach at the base offers a pic­ture per­fect set­ting for that pic­nic lunch, and the golfer can putt the after­noon away on the man­i­cured course greens. A shut­tle boat from Rock­wood Vil­lage to Mt. Kineo runs hourly from Memo­r­ial Day thru Colum­bus Day.
